What is it?

Engineering & Technology Career Exploring is a hands-on program open to young men and women from the ages of 14 to 20 years old with an interest in learning and discovering more about careers in the fields of Engineering & Technology.

Post 426 at Clinton Community College:
The Engineering & Technology Career Exploring program will immerse students into the fast paced, exciting career fields in Engineering and Technology.  Every month students will be guided on an adventure solving real world problems while learning important technical skills and building on soft skills in a team environment.  Real world problems = real world equipment, students will utilize and learn to operate equipment such as 3D-printers, CNC machines, welders, robots, automation systems, and power tools.  Student projects may vary from building a wind turbine, or creating a solar cell, to building a circuit or a remote; from building a network or cyber security, to building a robot or controlling a traffic light.  The projects are endless, with every month starting a new and exciting theme.  Every month will be wrapped up with an industry tour to pull together the theme and concepts learned from the projects.

When and where do meetings take place?

Clinton’s Engineering & Technology Career Exploring posts will meet on a bi-monthly basis during the school year. The program parallels the high school calendar and typically begins in the fall. However since ours is just getting started we will kick off in March 2017, with our meetings being held in the technology building at Clinton Community College.

Even though the post will meet twice a month students are not required to attend all of the sessions, the goal of the group is to provide career and hands on experience.  If the topic of the month is not of interest students are welcome to check it out but shouldn’t feel obligated to attend.  Students may attend as many or as few events as they wish.

Program Costs

The Engineering & Technology Career Exploring program is very affordable with annual program participation fee of $30.
